[2019 Spring Newsletter]Nehemiah Youth Club Retreat in Yangpyeong (March 30th -31th)
Nehemiah Youth Club @ Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province

The Nehemiah Youth Club (NYC) is a ministry that focuses on youths aged 14 to 24 years old from South Korea, North Korea, and international. NYC explores various activities in preparing them to be the reunification generation for rebuilding One Korea before the Lord.

From March 30 to March 31, eight teenagers from South and North Korea, four NGI staffs and two volunteers went for NYC retreat in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, to spend time away from daily routines, experiencing deepen encounters with God and having a glimpse of living together in a unified Korea.

We spent our weekend at a pension surrounded by beautiful forests. The youths were walking along the riverside excitedly. In the evening, they had a fun and meaningful fellowship at our barbecue dinner with the staffs and volunteers. After our meal, we spent our night in the living room, sharing and empathizing with each other on life priorities.

Staff S, in particular, prayed and gave the name "Aileen" (meaning "light") to K (a North Korean defector, 17 years old), who wanted an English name. Missionary L also comforted the youth, telling them she saw a vision of the NYC youth building light together in the darkness.

Staff J, who went along to the retreat, said, "I realized how much love I had received and how big it was after seeing the children who grew up without it, just because of being born in a place like North Korea. So I want to give them the love I received."

Through this retreat, we not only spent precious time with our friends but also experienced comfort and healing in God, getting out of the busy daily life, and relieving stress.
