Nehemiah English School
What is the English school?
The Nehemiah English School (NES) intends to grow global leaders through its free English program for North Korean refugee students. We aim to teach North Koreans English, and disciple/mentor them in life skills and empower them to be NEHEMIAHs for this generation.
NES Vision
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed (Luke 4:18, ESV)
Full-time School

This full-time school is specially designed for students who want to learn English intensively in English as a Second Language course. Students who enroll for full-time school will study on-site at our Yangcheon-gu center.

All classes will be done on a small scale of four to five students in one class. Besides conducting group classes, we will also run a One-on-One session for them to be discipled/mentored and empowered.

Where do the programs take place?
Offline programs take place in Nehemiah Global Community Center (NGCC), located in Yangcheon-gu. Online classes take place on Skype, flexibly scheduled and conducted by students and volunteers.
1:1 English Mentoring (On site / Online)
The 1:1 English Mentoring is designed for students who desire to learn conversational English but are unable to commit to full-time programs, such as those from other schools, undergraduate students, and graduate students. The classes are held on a weekly basis. The curriculums include online/offline English mentoring and on-site group studies in Yangcheon-gu center (except for those who reside too far away from the center). All online classes will be on one-one basis so each student can be paired with an assigned teacher, mostly native speaking volunteers, to be educated and empowered more on a personal and intensive level.

Nehemiah English Reunification Camp (NERC)

How can I be involved?
Many volunteers all over the world with the heart of God participate in NGI’s ministries in donation and volunteering in teaching. We pour all our hearts, minds, and strengths into NES in order to foster the next generation of North Korean refugees to become the next “Nehemiahs” to rebuild God’s Kingdom in North Korea after reunification.
