NGI January News Letter - vol.1 (English)

TO Our Supporters, from Kenneth Bae

I hope you’re staying warm in this cold weather!

It has been four years since I’ve returned home. Thanks to the Lord, many people remembered, stood with me and prayed for me during my detainment in North Korea. Moreover, 177,000 supporters even signed the petition for my release. I was rescued thanks to their efforts and the grace of the Lord, and at the end of my journey of recovery, God called me again to the ministry. With gratefulness, I founded Nehemiah Global Initiative last October. While I was imprisoned, the Lord told me to remember, stand with and pray for the 25 million North Koreans, just as He had sent others to do the same for me.

When Nehemiah was in the citadel of Susa as cupbearer to the King, he heard about Jerusalem’s ruin and the suffering of the Jewish remnants. He mourned, fasted and prayed before the Lord for four months, and in response, the Lord moved the King’s heart. Nehemiah was given the resources to rebuild Jerusalem’s defenses, and it was done in just 53 days. Jerusalem’s recovery meant the recovery of Israel, and the Israelites once again have risen as People of God.

2018 marks the 70th year since Korea was split in two. As the Lord freed Israel after 70 years of captivity, I pray for this year to be the year that God restores and rebuild Korean peninsula. I also pray that this year we will see breakthroughs for the Korean unification. Please help us in our quest to prepare for the unification.

Please pray with us :

Please join <Nehemiah One Million Prayer Petition> through our homepage (www.pray4nk.org).

We ask people from all over the world to pray for North Korea through this movement. We hope and pray that many intercessory prayer warriors will rise to embrace North Korea. Please reserve some time during your day for prayer. Also, messages from God can be sent to the [Letter to NK] link on our website, so we can pass that along to North Koreans post-unification. We will also be reading your letters through our radio broadcasting service, <Nehemiah NK Gospel Broadcasting>.

Help us rescue 300 North Korean refugees in 2018 :

This year, please help us rescue, restore, and rebuild 300 North Korean refugees' lives through your prayers and donations. Since last October, NGI was able to rescue 16 North Korean refugees. These numbers include children, teenagers, pregnant women, those at risk of being sent back to North Korea by the Chinese government, and women trying to flee forced marriages in China, many of whom NGI is their only chance at escaping.

We ask you to pray for us and help them experience the grace of God. 2,500 USD is needed during the process of rescuing one refugee; this includes all relocation expenses in China and Southeast Asia as well as the resettlement support given to the refugees to help them adjust in South Korea. All it takes is for 300 churches, organizations, or individuals to work towards rescuing one person. With your prayers and support, we can rescue their lives, and help them live a new life facing the light of the Lord.

Together, let’s deliver the Bibles to North Koreans within 30 days of unification :

NGI is launching the <Nehemiah One Million Bible Production and Delivery Project> which we plan to produce one million Bibles and deliver to North Korean citizens within 30 days of unification. We will recruit 100,000 Bible Carriers so that they will take 10 copies each and share the gospel to 10 persons in North Korea within 30 days of unification. Just like the scripture says “The truth will set you free”, only the Word of God can restore them and rebuild them.

For this ministry, NGI agreed to work with Duranno, one of the Korean Bible publishers, and we are currently in progress of developing this project. By the end of February, we would like to start fundraising for the first 5,000 copies of the Bible. This fund will be the first seed for spreading the Bible in North Korea.

You can sponsor a Korean Bible with a donation of 20 USD, and please prepare your outreach teams to enter North Korea within 30 days of unification and join us sharing the gospel there. As one, two, ten, a hundred Bibles starts to be sponsored, I believe that the miracle of producing one million Bibles will happen. Your support will make the miracle happen.

Dear NGI fellow partners, thank you for your continuing interest, prayers, and support on our new ministry. We ask you to share the news and encourage others to join us.

Please pray for each of the NGI staff members to have faith in the Lord only, not to walk ahead of Him but obey his will in every step. Please encourage us, share and participate, so that NGI can rescue, restore, and rebuild more lives. Please support us so that we can continue to be an organization that God is greatly pleased with and the place where the will of the Lord is fulfilled.

Blessings from Nehemiah Global Initiative,

Kenneth Bae

NGI January Rescue News

At the beginning of this month requests for help came from China for NK Sister Sunah Kim (alias) and Sister Jungoak Park (alias). Sister Kim and Sister Park both suffered from hardships in North Korea and so risked their lives to escape to China. But their joy of surviving the escape was short lived as they were both trafficked and each sold to Korean Chinese men living in remote areas. They entered another dark tunnel of despair. But by God’s grace they got connected with NGI at the beginning of January and are now in a third country waiting to go to South Korea. We ask for your prayers that as these sisters come to the end of their treacherous journey that they would soon be physically and emotionally restored and adjust well to life in South Korea.

NGI Grand Opening Event

This past January 18 was the first time since NGI’s founding in October 2017 that we were finally able to meet with all of you, our partners. About 100 of our partners and representatives from associated organizations and media representatives gathered at Nehemiah Community Center for NGI’s Grand Opening. Rescue funds for four North Koreans, funds to print 70 North Korean Bibles, and approximately 13,000 US dollars for the establishment of J-House were all thankfully raised on the day of the opening. We want to say a big thank you once again to our partners for your invaluable support and ask for your prayers that NGI would be used by the Lord in even greater ways.

J-House, North Korean Refugee Orphan Support Center established in China

J-House is a China-based North Korean Refugee Orphan Support Center established for the children of defector women who fall prey to human traffickers in China, give birth to children, and are later forcibly repatriated back to North Korea. The four orphans at the current J-House in Yanji, China (formerly House of Hope) are being well looked after. J-House Dalian was established as of January 2018 and its facilities include four cozy bunkrooms just waiting to receive the children the Lord will bring to us. J-House Dalian will not simply be a place that feeds, clothes and shelters orphans. It will not only provide basic physical needs and spiritual care, but will also provide good education for underprivileged children. With the goal of obtaining status as an international alternative school in China, we are especially preparing a diverse staff and various programs for an English Intensive Education. Please keep J-House in your prayers.
