SEA ROUTE PROJECT

Written by Timothy Jeong

Our Sea Route Project is such a precious ministry to us. With sincere hearts and God’s love, we have launched bottles filled with rice, a Bible, and love letters to our North Korean brothers and sisters via a sea route three times this summer (June 3rd, July 3rd, and August 16th). This ministry truly bridges the distances between us, allowing participants from around the world to fund a bottle and send hope, a message of love, and God’s Word to people in need.

Sea Route Project in June

On June 3rd, YWAM DTS Outreach Teams from Columbia and Brazil helped us send out our first group of rice bottles. We worked together to prepare the bottles, praying over them, and praying for North Korea.

Sea Route Project in July

On July 3rd we were joined by three interns from the University of Chicago as part of their summer internship program. Even though they came from a different culture and language background, they dedicated their precious time and energy for North Korea. They confessed that, through the program, they came to have a high expectation of reunification on the Korean peninsula. During this time, our NGI team realized the very important role that our time and commitment has on both those who fill the bottles, and those who receive the bottles. The process of this mission ties us together, reuniting us as one unified and loving family of God.

Sea Route Project in August

During our last Sea Route Project program, held in August during NERC, three hundred rice bottles were made by all volunteers and participants seeking reunification and praying for God’s love to fall upon the Korean peninsula. They individually wrote love letters and carefully put every grain of rice into bottles. Although our foreign volunteers don’t live on the peninsula, NGI witnessed God’s heart pour out for North Korea through their tears and sincere, intercessory prayers. Through this process, we were all left pondering how precious this ministry is to all whose lives touch it.
