REUNIFICATION VISION TRIP 2019

Written by Evan Sim

From August 26th to 31st our NGI team, along with eight other individuals from Seoul (World Mission Church) and Hong Kong, embarked on a vision trip to confirm God’s calling on our team, and his love and vision for the people of North Korea. This trip took us to Dandong, various border areas, and to Changbai Mountain in China.

After 13 hours of travel, we arrived in Changbai district. Along the way we saw towns and villages held timelessly in the 1960’s. It was here that we came to know and confirm God’s heart for North Korea, and how to realistically prepare for revival and reunification. Our eight travel companions, who had joined us at their own expense, stated:
“I want to be like Ezra, who helped Nehemiah. And so, I want to help NGI.”
“God has created unity and stirred my frozen heart for North Korea.”
“I want to prepare, with NGI,  for the coming reunification.”

Our sister from North Korea shared her heart with us, saying “I came to South Korea only for my life, family, and future. I’ve worked hard to achieve my personal goals. But, from now on, I want to be a small part of helping North Korean refugees in need.” These statements from our North Korea sister, impressed upon us the various ways that each of us can have a heart that is compassionate, words that are filled with encouragement and hope, and hands that will help with reunification.

In closing, this vision trip absolutely confirmed the calling for North Korean outreach ministries and that North Korean refugees are seeds of revival on the Korean Peninsula.
