N letter vol.16 2022.January.28
2022 Nehemiah Disciple Training Camp (NDC) Fundraising Letter
"The journey to discover my dream was filled with God's love every day."
"Everything from start to finish was the highlight."
"During my travels, I was determined that I wanted to do something worthwhile. So, I want to live a life of contributing to the world so that love does not cease to exist. This is the vision I found during my trip to America."
"Through this journey, I was able to find my vision. It made me realize that I can do it when I only dwell with God."
These are some of the testimonies of students who participated in the first Nehemiah Discipleship Camp 2020 (1/27/2020-2/1/2020) held two years ago.
2020 NDC
Eight young North Korean refugees participated in The Nehemiah Discipleship Camp under the theme of “Dream, Destiny, and Discipleship.” This was a dreamlike time where 8 young North Korean refugees experienced great hope, newfound vision, service, and love.
The eight refugees who participated in NDC have had many changes in their lives since then. Sister K memorized English words and focused on English conversation from the day she arrived in the United States and recently started studying at a community college in Chicago. Two other friends are studying at Handong University, a Christian school in South Korea.
Sister J touched many people with her singing and playing the guitar and began studying nursing. Sister M is majoring in education. Sister J became a pastor's wife last fall and is walking the path of dedication to Christ. Two brothers were promoted in their company. Brother K became the president of a cleaning company and is working diligently to grow his business.
During the two-week NDC in the U.S., they had time to search and discover their God-given visions. The DTC impacted their lives to walk in faith with the hope to pursue their goals.
2022 NDC Pre-Camp at Gangwon-do
Though everything has halted due to COVID-19, donors from various regions in the United States, who met the refugees two years ago, requested to hold a second discipleship training vision camp. Their loving hearts, minds, and financial support became seeds to provide the '2022 Nehemiah Discipleship Training Camp (NDC).
The Nehemiah Discipleship Training Camp will be held for 3 weeks from February 3 to 23, 2022, in various regions in the U.S. The mini DTS (Discipleship Training School) will be held for a week at the YWAM (Jesus Evangelism) Mission Training Center in Las Vegas. Participants will learn about God in the program “To Know God.” NDC also plans to hold a course through evangelism trips in Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington DC, and Liberty University named “To Make God and North Korea Known.”
Eight young North Korean refugees were selected to take part in the 2022 NDTC. All participants gathered at the pre-camp training center in Gangwon-do for two nights and three days at the end of last year, preparing and training with one mind bound together through worship, prayer, and special lectures.
In addition, during January, all students will study the English language, write testimonies, practice English praise, and prepare outreach programs at the Nehemiah Community Center daily. They will pray fervently for the people they will meet in the United States, organizations and leaders of human rights and unification, supporters of churches and individual sponsors, and organizations who serve North Korean refugees. Every day, they are all preparing to share the love of Christ and God's grace with others
“They seemed to love and care for North Korea more than me, a North Korean. In their faces, I saw the sincerity.
And with all this experience, I know why I am here.”
"I want to be like these people. I will live while spreading God's love. They are my role models. If I live like them, someday I believe that I can live like Jesus."
“During my travels, I was convinced that I wanted to do something worthwhile. The things that are valuable to me make my heart pump with passion. I desire to express my love for North Korea by doing something worthwhile. I want to repay God and people, to return the love received. So, I want to live a life of contributing to the world so that love does not cease. This is the vision I discovered during my trip to America.”
As we share the confessions of North Korean refugees once again, we request support for the 2nd Nehemiah Discipleship Camp in the U.S. Please pray with us on behalf of the second NDC.
And we sincerely ask for your support to reach our fund goal of $ 8,000 ($ 1,000 per person). Currently, 30% of the total expenses have not yet been raised.
* As Nehemiah rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem, NGI is dedicated to building the next generation leaders among North Korean refugees. Each brick represents your support in building a future leader.
