N letter vol. 12
2021.September.24
Hello. This is Kenneth Bae.
The beautiful autumn season has come to our doorsteps as we feel the chilly breeze in the morning and evening. I pray that the grace of God may be ever so fruitful in your lives in this Thanksgiving season. In September’s N-Letter, I would like to tell you about our fall semester at Nehemiah English School (NES) that has started on September 13th.

Thanks to your prayers and generosity, it was possible for NES to hold 7 semesters so far and start its 8th semester! This fall semester is a 12-week long English education program tailored to North Korean refugee families and their children.

We have prepared various programs for the fall semester. We have opened small group classes in which four teachers are in charge of 36 students total and 7 English classes, from TOEIC preparation course for all levels, including beginners, intermediates, and RC, and English intensive course, including beginners and intermediates, and English basic course.

In addition to English education classes, we have customized our curriculum with praise songs, Bible recitation programs, and intercessory prayer time in order to share the love and the gospel of Jesus Christ with our students. God has opened the door for native English-speaking teachers to volunteer to serve the students at NGI. Praise Him!

We have also started 1:1 online mentoring and tutoring programs tailored for about 20 students willing to learn English. A for the mentoring course, each student is to meet his/her native English-speaking tutor once a week to have conversations on faith, life, and the future vision. This was created as a holistic education program that helps students from Biblical worldviews and lives their lives based on them.
There are students, other than the 20 matched with personal tutors, who are hoping and waiting to participate in the program. Thus, we ask you to pray that God sends more volunteer teachers who can share God’s love with the students.

Through the orientation, we were able to meet up with the students who came from different backgrounds and are eager to learn English for various reasons and plans. We are eagerly looking forward to experiencing God’s grace in the lives of the students through the program! It is always rewarding to witness students learn, improve, and grow by joining consecutive semesters at NES.

We are extremely thankful that the elementary school students who participated in VBS the past summer were also able to join Nehemiah Kids English Club. A total of 11 North Korean refugee students and 4 South Korean missionaries’ children, who were not able to afford private English education, joined the club.

Nehemiah Kids English Club is a program for young students to learn English and grow in the gospel through fun curriculums like English praise songs, gospel messages, games, crafts, and small groups. The teachers and volunteers who participated in the program last summer will continue to serve this time.

A total of 60 students applied for the 2021 NES fall semester, which has begun with an orientation in mid-September.

For the next 12 weeks, we pray that the students in the program gain self-confidence, share their lives, dreams, and visions with each other, and experience God’s love and grace through the gospel.

For this to successfully and gracefully happen, we would like to earnestly ask you to pray and step up.
NES fall semester has already started under God’s plans while we are still in high need of teachers, volunteers, and finance for operation.600 USD per student per semester, 36,000 USD for a total of 60 students, 300 USD per child for a kid's program, and 4,500 USD for 15 children are required.

Thankfully, about 21% of the finances have been filled under God's special provision, but we are still praying that 79% of the finances (32,000 USD) will be filled.

We would like to ask you to kindly pray and support our NES program so all the more students can learn English and grow in faith to become a Nehemiah for this generation through hearing the gospel more effectively.

This is the end of today’s N-Letter.
Dear partners, we appreciate you taking the time to read the letter. We hope and pray that you'll have a spirit-filled week, And see you again next month!🍁
